Welcome to Here Fishy Fishy! My name is Jessica Colon and I am a senior at Fredonia State University of New York. I am working on this blog as part of my print and digital narrative class.
Hence the title of the blog, every post will revolve around fishing.
Examples of some upcoming posts include my personal experience ice fishing, where I fish, others’ fishing stories, necessary equipment, a normal day of fishing and what possibly goes through every fisherman’s head.
Growing up, I experienced fishing a few times here and there while on vacation in Florida. Even then, when I first tried fishing it wasn’t love at first sight, so to speak. Even five years ago, I would have never imagined myself to bait a hook, hold a fish and let alone enjoy waiting for what feels like eternity for a fish to bite my hook some days. I would have never guessed that I would love fishing as much as I do today.
Every fisherman knows the feeling when your first catch of the day is barely bigger than the size of your minnow. It’s a huge disappointment because the first catch shapes you mind set on how you think the rest of the fishing day will be. To my surprise, that is hardly the case for me.
The adrenaline rush of having a big fish bite your hook, fighting it and getting a picture with it afterward are things I look forward to once I hook one. It’s another memory for me. Many people enjoy many different hobbies, but my favorite is fishing. I wouldn’t even consider it as a hobby, but instead a passion of mine. When I say I love fishing, I literally mean fishing every season, whether it be for salmon, trout, perch or bass to name a few. You name it, I most likely fish for it.
